VICTOR MOSES GETS STARTING ROLE WITH CHELSEA

Nigeria international Victor Moses is gradually playing himself into the heart of Chelsea given the post-match review of their last game by the Blues manager Roberto di Matteo. The Italian whose team is leading the English Premier League said that the performance of the attacker in the game against Stoke on Saturday has given him a huge consideration for a starting place on Tuesday in the League Cup match against Wolves. Di Matteo commented via Twitter, “Victor Moses played well again when he came on and has a good chance of starting v Wolves on Tuesday.” The Nigerian has not started for the Stamford Bridge team since his about £10m move from Wigan Athletic and also came up a substitute in their last match against Stoke City which they won by 1-0 courtesy of a late goal scored by defender Ashley Cole. Moses, a surprise by the reigning European champions did not feature in the team’s only Champions League match so far this season which was played at home against Juventus. Di Matteo who pressed for the attacker has maintained a positive review of the minutes Moses has spent on the pitch for Chelsea. Chelsea’s next Premier League game is the weekend starter and start match against Arsenal at the Emirates. The Chelsea manager also found kind words for Moses’ compatriot Mikel Obi who received racist tweets after their 2-2 draw with Juventus. Mikel whose error contributed largely to the Juve equaliser took responsibility after the game and publicly apologised. Mikel played the Saturday match against Stoke and performed well in the match the visitors were hard nuts to crack. “I had a good conversation with John (Mikel), and he seems to handle it well (racial abuse on Twitter). I have a lot of faith in him. I think he’s done extremely well for us in that position. It’s a bit of a dirty job there to try and break up the opposition’s play and it doesn’t always get recognised with the right credit.” Even though the Nigerian has shut down his Twitter account, he has denied it was because of the abuse. He claims he is not a social media person. The British police and Chelsea officials have launched investigations into the abuse. Abuses like that are usually investigated over time and the culprits charged to court for criminal breach. A Chelsea statement read, “We’ve been made aware of racist tweets targeted at Mikel which are totally unacceptable, disgusting and abhorrent. We’ve informed the police and support taking the strongest possible action.”
